DAY ONE RECAP

Ellie and Dina continue their quest for revenge against Abby, a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), responsible for Joel’s death. Their journey takes them through a ruined city, a battleground between the WLF and the Seraphites, a fanatical religious cult.

During their exploration, they discover mutilated corpses of WLF members executed by the Seraphites. While examining the scene, a WLF patrol catches them by surprise, forcing them to seek refuge in an abandoned subway station. The WLF members use red flares to track them down. These lights attract infected, triggering a sudden attack. During the fight, Ellie is bitten while protecting Dina. They manage to escape and find shelter in an abandoned theater.

In a tense moment, Dina points her gun at Ellie, fearing she might turn. Ellie then reveals her immunity. She asks Dina to watch over her during the night and to kill her if she shows signs of infection.

The next morning, Dina tells Ellie she is pregnant, a revelation that adds a new layer to their relationship. Despite the dangers surrounding them, they share a moment of intimacy, strengthening their emotional connection.

Isaac Dixon

The episode introduces Isaac Dixon (Jeffrey Wright), the leader of the WLF. A former FEDRA commander, he betrayed his comrades to found the WLF, a brutal militia determined to eliminate the Seraphites. A flashback reveals his rise to power and his complex relationship with Abby, whom he trained in combat.

Tribute to the Video Game

In a touching scene, Ellie performs an acoustic version of “Take on Me” by A-ha, a nod to the original video game. This moment strengthens the bond between Ellie and Dina while offering a poetic break in a ruined world.
